How will an increase in salary affect my credit score?
Q. I understand that credit score isn't necessarily based on income but here's my situation. I have about 16,000 in revolving debt with a 600 credit score. My yearly income has recently increased 10 fold which obviously improves my debt to income ratio. How long after this increase should I see improvements in my credit score and by how much. Also what triggers the credit bureaus that this increase in income has occurred?

A. Your income as nothing to do with your credit score and the credit bureaus do not keep track of your income. Your income should put you in yet a better position to make all your payments on time, which does affect your score. Paying off that revolving debt with all the money you are now making will also help.

What type of exercises or workouts will increase the size of my quads?
Q. I have skinny upper legs. Since not enough fat seems to accumulate there, I want to know of an exercise that will increase the size of my muscle in that area. If anyone knows of some specific exercises that can help me achieve what I want please let me know. If it is an exercise I can do at home or without buying any special or costly equipment that would be best. NOTE: I am not looking for an exercise that will TONE that area. I am looking increase the muscle size of my quadriceps. Thanks!

A. The king of exercises, squats, is the best quadriceps exercise. It also develops your core very well, and your glutes. If you don't have access to weights, that's fine. Find a ball of some kind and do a 'braced' squat -- hold the ball directly out from your chest, squat down (keep your back straight, sit back on your heels, go down as far as you can) and hold that position briefly, then stand again. Or you can simply put your hands on top of your head, or to your sides for balance.

How to increase contrast with black and white development film?
Q. How can I increase a contrast during developing of the black and white film? I've heard that doing more aggitation can give a different effect, can someone explain a bit more about it? Thank you.

A. Your best bet for a high contrast negative starts in camera by "pushing" the roll of film. This is done by shooting @ a higher Exposure Index ( set ISO higher ) which will technically under expose the entire roll. You then add additional development time in the developer to compensate. This will result in higher contrast, and grain in the negative. Play around with different film emulsions (T-max, Agfa ect. ) to see which responds best to your liking. As the previous answerer mentioned, you may simply make your prints on a different grade of B+W enlargement paper for a similar result. This may indeed be the best advice, as it is generally better to have a properly exposed/developed negative to begin with, from which many different variety' [cont.]
