From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Political freedom is the absence of interference with the sovereignty of an individual by the use of coercion or aggression. Freedom is commonly known as a state of being free from government oppression. The opposite of a free society is a totalitarian state, which highly restricts political freedom in order to regulate almost every aspect of behavior. In this sense ‘freedom’ refers solely to the relation of humans to other humans, and the only infringement on it is coercion by humans. GNU Free Documentation License Is political correctness a violation of freedom of speech? Q. "Ruth Perry traces the term back to Mao's Little Red Book. According to Perry, the term was later adopted by the radical left in the 1960s" Is political correctness just a sneaky form of authoritarian control, and a a violation of freedom of speech? It is authoritarian control, black and white, no bells or whistles, no bones about it. That the two doctrines of freedom of speech and political correctness have existed together in western societies at the same time is somewhat surprising. Up until about this point freedom of speech has tended to trump political correctness, legally. Recently however the screws have been tightened and you can expect more of the same in the future. Q. Imagine you are sitting in Starbucks having a cup of coffee with a famous American of your choice, living or dead, analyzing this question. Who is discussing the issue with you? Does your tablemate agree or disagree with your position? If we are not a democracy, then what type of government is america run on? Asked by Ever wonder WHY? - Tue Aug 25 16:39:03 2009 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments A. What a tough choice between Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and Milton Friedman. Jefferson was one of the biggest advocates of freedom and direct democracy and once an opponent of the federalist movement. I would discuss with him his reasoning behind his lack of faith for the colonial American when it came to being able to handle democracy, for even he knew we're not intelligent enough to govern ourselves. Milton Friedman encompassed all of the re-written arguments for freedom and created bullet proof arguments for future libertines, libertarians, and capitalists.
